We’re here to help answer any questions you may have and make sure you feel completely comfortable with your chosen treatment. If there’s anything that isn’t covered in the frequently asked questions below, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
The word permanent can make it seem a bit daunting but think how much time and effort it would save you in the mornings, whether you’re shooting off for the school run or getting ready for a big meeting. Our treatments can be as subtle or as bold as you’d like, so it can simply help enhance your natural features for a fresh-faced, barely there make-up look, or give you 24/7 perfect brows, lash line, lips and more.
All our treatments are 100% safe and non-toxic. The pigments we use are made from natural ingredients and minerals that are fully approved and chosen for their specific hypoallergenic properties. The products and procedures we provide are used all over the world to help customers achieve their beauty goals, in fact many Ophthalmologists recommend permanent make-up for people whose eyes are sensitive to traditional cosmetics.
No, treatments are not generally considered painful. There can be some mild discomfort which is why we apply an anaesthetic gel prior to your treatment to alleviate any discomfort. Customers often refer to a scratching sensation during treatments, rather than them being painful.
It’s pretty rare that a client can’t have any kind of permanent make-up, however clients must be 18 years and above and must complete all medical history forms to determine any contraindications and a patch test must be completed. Candidates who may be contraindicated include people with diabetes, pregnant and lactating women, people with glaucoma, people who are taking blood-thinning medicines or those with certain skin diseases. Any candidates on long term medication or under the care of their physician/consultant will need written consent.
Permanent makeup is not for everyone however those who choose permanent makeup can enjoy the benefits of bolder lips, beautiful brows and a range of other enhancements. During your initial consultation Samantha will listen to your goals and expectations then recommend which treatments will help achieve them and suit your face, features and skin tone.
We don’t shave off your eyebrows prior to your microblading treatment as the more brow hair you have the better. We may remove some hairs to create your desired shape, but we try to blend your natural hair with your permanent make-up.
Your brows will be temporarily drawn on with a make-up pencil. We use specific measuring techniques to make sure your new brows suit your face shape and we won’t begin the tattoo process until you’re completely happy with the shape of your new brows.
We use the Nouveau Intelligent machine, specifically designed for the application of permanent make-up, as well as a hand tool for microblading, where pigment is gently introduced to the skin. Customers often refer to the sensation as a scratching feeling rather than it being painful and we keep your comfort in mind at all times. Brow treatments typically take around 2 hours, but this can vary depending on the customer’s requirements and expectations.
How long the effects of your treatment last depends on several factors, your lifestyle or sun exposure for example. Whilst permanent make-up is attractively low maintenance you will require a top-up from time to time to keep it looking its best. You’ll be advised during your initial treatment on the recommended timeframe for your maintenance treatments, as it is individual to each customer.
Most customers get on with their day straight after their treatments. Some customers may experience slight redness or swelling but this usually disappears within 48 hours. Some flaking or scabbing is not uncommon following a treatment so we do advise customers to bear this in mind if they have an event coming up immediately after their appointment. After your treatment you’ll be given a full aftercare briefing, detailing how best to look after brows, lips etc. whilst they are healing.
We advise customers to avoid exposure to the sun, scratching or rubbing the area as well as applying and removing conventional makeup to the treated area, but this will be fully covered in your aftercare advice.
Our cancellation policy requires customers to give at least 48 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend your appointment for any reasons. We tend to have a waiting list for our treatments so do ask that customers show consideration by allowing us to offer your appointment to someone else, and as a patch test is required 48 hours prior to a treatment we ask that cancellations be made a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Please note we reserve the right to retain your deposit if you cancel your appointment less than 48 hours prior to your treatment and you will be charged the full cost of your treatment should you fail to cancel and arrive for your appointment.
We will try to rearrange your appointment should you need to, provided the correct notice is given, but this isn’t guaranteed.
Eyelashes – We recommend against tinting, perming or curling your eyelashes prior to treatments as well as for two weeks after.
Brows – We recommend that you don’t tint your eyebrows prior to treatment and we shape them as part of your permanent eyebrow treatment.
Eyeliner – We ask customers who wear contact lenses to bring glasses to wear after your treatment as contact lenses cannot be worn for 24 hours after.
